Projects pre-2007

Some projects from further back

A description in reverse chronological order of projects undertaken prior to 2007.

Project: Records Management System

Client: Eversheds LLP

Records Management System
  • ASP (VBScript) application with some VB.NET backend components to enable fee-earners to search for, retrieve and store (to third party archiving company) and track the movements of important legal documentation nationally.
  • My role was to build the database objects to facilitate the RMS functionality, and to script the import and cleansing of data from 8 different regional databases into a single national database.

Project: Tikit Knowledge Portal

Client: Eversheds LLP

Tikit Knowledge Portal
  • Sometimes called ‘Fulcrum’, this ASP (VBScript) based application was built by Tikit using their own API.
  • Used by fee-earners to look for legal resources both within and outside Eversheds, using a system of ‘libraries’.

Project: CyberDocs

Client: Eversheds LLP

CyberDocs
  • CyberDocs was an out-of-the-box application from Hummingbird, that Eversheds wanted to modify. It enabled users to search for internal legal resources in pre-defined libraries not dissimilar to Fulcrum.
  • In addition, users could also (if having the correct permissions) add new resources and modify metadata that could then be searched upon.
  • My role was to build the required functionality and modifications using the Hummingbird API.

Project: A&L Decision-In-Principle (’DIP’) Calculator

Client: Alliance & Leicester

DIP Calculator
  • The DIP calculator was on the Alliance and Leicester Retail Finance Site (RFS). Its purpose is to allow users to quickly guage their eligibility for an Alliance & Leicester mortgage without going through a full, formal application.
  • The broad business parameters for the calculation were supplied by the mortgage department.
  • My role was to work out and document the mathematical algorithm, then build the DIP calculator.

Project: Loan Calculator

Client: Alliance & Leicester

Loan Calculator
  • Also on the RFS website, this allowed users to see various Alliance & Leicester unsecured loan product scenarios.
  • The calculations were performed in a COM component written in VB which produced an extensive XML document showing a variety of loan options depending upon the input parameters.
  • I used the XML results to produce results tables on the site (using XSLT) and a web service (in C#) for external agents of Alliance & Leicester (such as IFAs) to use.

Project: Intermediary Services and Information Site (ISIS)

Client: Alliance & Leicester

Intermediary Services
  • Site built to allow Independent Financial Advisor and authorised agents of Alliance & Leicester to get information about products.
  • My role was to build the entire site framework (in ASP), including stylesheets (CSS) and scripts (Javascript), and supervise a junior developer to put together the content for the site.

Project: Smartermotoring

Client: Alliance & Leicester

Smartermotoring
  • The Alliance & Leicester motoring portal with the broad objective of selling car loans and insurance by offering motoring related information.
  • My role was build, enhance and maintain this site over a number of rebuilds through about 3 years.
  • More about smartermotoring…
