Crucis has been involved in large and small projects for both public and internal (e.g. intranet) consumption.

The following represents a brief summary of some of our recent projects in reverse chronological order, covering 2007 to the present day. Click here to view older projects.

Project: Cows ‘n’ Things rebrand

Client: Age UK

Cows 'n' Things home page
  • Cows ‘n’ Things is a an ethical gift purchasing website, allowing users to buy ‘gifts’ for needy elderly people in poor countries.
  • As this was a revamp of the existing site, the code remained in C#/.NET 2.0
  • JQuery was introduced to improve the interactivity.

Project: Evince

Evince - information managed
  • Evince is a web-based information management tool and reporting system which allows local governments to store and retrieve data for Family Information Services (FIS), such as child minders, pre-schools, and other child-care professionals/providers. It can also be used in a help-line to record and assist callers requesting information about care-schemes for children.
  • The role here is to assist with ongoing enhancements and bug-fixing of the Evince application using .NET 3.5, LINQ and AJAX.
  • Worked on the Datapool project. The purpose of this is to develop a two-way interface between evince and the ISPP (Information System for Parents and Providers aka Parent Know How Directory) aggregator service. The ISPP project will eventually allow FIS providers to share information with each other and OFSTED and other government bodies via a common schema.
  • Developed the Plings adapter for evince. This C# console application queries the ISPP repository for suitable services and service providers and uploads them to the Plings web service.
  • Developed a C# Windows Forms query and report migration tool for evince using GuduSoft’s Query Parser.

Project: MCMS Migration

Client: Help the Aged

  • Multi-phased migration of Microsoft Content Management (MCMS) 2001 websites to MCMS 2002 and through that process consolidate and rearrange their web server infrastructure. The role in this project was a consultancy/analysis one followed by actual delivery.
  • Rebuild the homepage template of the main Help the Aged website on MCMS 2002 with .NET 1.1
  • .NET 2 development work on other Help the Aged microsites such as Sponsor A Grandparent

Project: Miomi

Client: Miomi Ltd

Miomi home page
  • Miomi is a social networking website built on a .NET platform with a highly interactive front-end built with JavaScript and AJAX.
  • The role here was predominantly JavaScript development, focused on a few select pieces of functionality: the maps, slideshow, error handling and the auto-completer (tag editor) as well as a few other generic pieces of work.

Project: OPUS2 SmartClient

Client: Omnibus Systems Ltd

OPUS2 SmartClient Video Player
  • OPUS2 is an intranet-based media asset management system, and ‘SmartClient’ is a user interface built using the Silverlight 1.0. The product is targeted at the television and broadcast industry.
  • Application utilises JavaScript and DHTML with Silverlight to make AJAX calls to a C# Web Service that in turn queries various SQL Server 2005 for multimedia assets e.g. video and associated metadata.

Project: Pinnacle

Client: Davis Langdon LLP

Pinnacle Homepage
  • C#/ASP.NET web application enabling fee-earners to manage/search for information about projects being worked upon in Davis Langdon.
  • Application was N-tier .NET 2.0 with SQL Server 2005 and Sharepoint backend.
  • The role here was to fix bugs, build enhancements and new functionality in C# and JavaScript with Visual Studio 2005.
  • Used SQL Server Management Studio to develop database objects, including stored procedures.
  • Exposure to SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and SharePoint 2007.

Project: Log Viewer

Client: Davis Langdon LLP

Log Viewer Web Application
  • A simple C#/ASP.NET application written exclusively by myself to allow developers to easily view XML log files produced through the Davis Langdon exception management framework.
  • Used XSLT and DHTML/JavaScript to enable users to easily find the cause of exceptions.
