White Clarke Group
The White Clark Group are a leading global provider of automotive finance software, with multi-national clients including Volkswagen Financial Services, Toyota Financial Services and several banks.
WCG required a broad software expertise to help upgrade, enhance and maintain the retail point-of-sale (POS) applications for one of their UK-based automotive clients. These applications would be used on a day-to-day basis in dealerships in the UK and the Republic of Ireland to sell vehicles with finance.
They were also looking for a system to replace their fax-based supporting-documents pipeline. Supporting documents are a key part of the car-finance underwriting process, and missing, incorrect or low-quality documents were a significant factor in application processing times.
The initial challenge was to upgrade the legacy applications without downtime and make them multi-browser and iPad compatible. All applications would need to continue to integrate with the existing backoffice systems, without degradation.
We worked with the in-house technical and non-technical teams to update and enhance several applications so they were compatible with all the major browsers and iPad devices. We also developed an API for an iOS (iPad and iPhone) app to help car dealerships quickly submit customer documents to finance underwriters for car finance applications.
We liaised with the in-house customer-experience department to help produce demonstrations and training materials for the updated applications. End-users would therefore feel comfortable using the updated systems.
The company saw an immediate impact to application performance and user satisfaction. The legacy system had been slow and lacked the features commonly seen in modern web applications. The upgraded application was significantly faster and easier to use, and worked on iPads. This freed salespeople from their desks, enabling them to use the application on the sales floor with their customers.
The impact of the iOS document application was even more dramatic. The legacy system had required dealers to fax documentation to the finance underwriters. This could result in a lag time of several hours before finance application were reviewed. The new system merely required that the document be photographed with the iOS App. Underwriting frequently started within minutes of the application being submitted, leading to a surge in customer satisfaction and car sales.
Millward Brown are a global leader in brand creation and growth, and experts in market research and analysis.
One of their global brand clients needed a way to measure and present the effectiveness of their television marketing campaign such that it could be rapidly updated and digested.
Millward Brown wanted the solution built and hosted on their SharePoint portal using a SAP Crystal (aka Xcelsius) Dashboard.
When television ads were shown, market researchers would conduct surveys in the target market and quickly collate the results. However, the format of this data collection and the means to deliver and present it were not yet understood.
We built up a relationship with stakeholders in the business, and created a picture of the data and format through which this data could be used to deliver the charts needed.
The data was collated into Excel initially, then imported into SharePoint, from where SharePoint web parts were used to deliver the Xcelsius charts.
The mechanism we created enabled key decision makers in the marketing campaign to gain a rapid overview of the effectiveness of their television marketing campaign. This helped them to target the advertising more effectively.
Digitalk are a globally-recognised Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) communications and software provider to Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) and resellers.
Digitalk were in the process of building a portfolio of POS, self-service and reseller portals for MVNOs both in the UK and the USA.
They wanted simple but robust solutions that could be consumed from desktops, mobiles or touch-screen kiosks in corner-shops and off-licenses, where users or shop staff would be able to top up Pay-As-You-Go mobile credit within seconds.
Crucis helped to develop several web applications using responsive design to meet the device-agnostic requirement. Some of the solutions were white-label, so that they could be taken by resellers and packaged within their own branding
The solutions also needed integration with payment platforms such as SagePay, Authorize.Net and PayPal.

Capita Children's Services
Capita is a large global consultancy and their children's services division, Capita SIMS provides software (Schools Information Management System) for schools administration and management.
Capita SIMS were in the process of rebuilding their entire SIMS platform. They were using the latest technologies to put them on a better footing to serve their customers in the eduction sector.
The program required large teams of software developers and testers based in the UK and offshore. These teams merged several different workstreams working on a complex architectural framework.
Capita needed to replicate the features of the old SIMS platform into the new in order to maintain continuity of functionality. They also wanted to integrate the benefits of using the latest web application technologies.
In addition, they needed a mechanism to generate management and school reports from the system using pre-configured Microsoft Word templates. They needed to do this with SharePoint as their document store.
We provided knowledge and skills in the development of key modules in the system. We achieved this through our full-stack experience on the Microsoft platform.
We also developed a "Document Composition Engine". This enabled school administrators to generate and save template-based Word and PDF reports at the click of button.
Capita were able to rapidly advance their SIMS development and testing program.
